THAILAND - Thailand's exports of shrimps and products will remain promising in the second half of this year and next year, but exporters need to monitor a new anti-dumping (AD) duty and the World Trade Organization (WTO)’s ruling on a bond guarantee for exports, according to the KASIKORN Research Center (KRC).The leading think tank said in an analysis report released here Thursday that the country's exports of shrimps and products had begun to recover since late last year and are expected to increase continuously for this year and next year, boosted by expanded production.
As well, many trading rivals have experienced disease epidemics and bad weather conditions, which are unfavorable to the production. These have resulted in shrimp outputs decreasing on the world market.
KRC said Thai shrimp exports to key destinations, including the United States, Japan and the European Union (EU), in particular, had also increased markedly since Thailand had regained the generalized system of preferences (GSP) from the trading partners.
