Print This Page Salmon dispute: Norway asks EU for consultations
NORWAY - The Norwegian Government has asked for consultations with the European Communities on the EU's imposition of definitive anti-dumping measures on Norwegian salmon. This is the first formal step under the WTO dispute settlement mechanism.On January 21st 2006, the Council of the European Union adopted a regulation imposing anti-dumping measures on imports of farmed salmon originating in Norway.
The Norwegian exporters have refuted the EU's claim that Norwegian salmon is sold below cost on the EU market, and the Norwegian Government has decided to bring the EU decision before the WTO Dispute Settlement Body.
