Print This Page Salmon group's profits double
NORWAY - Norweigan seafood producer Ler?y Seafood Group has reported profits of NOK 274.1 million (?25 million) for 2005, up from NOK 132.7 million the previous year.Ler?y is a 50 per cent shareholder in Scottish Sea Farms, the second largest producer of farmed salmon in Scotland, and a major player in the Shetland aquaculture scene.
Scottish Seafarms runs a number of salmon farms around the islands and a processing plant at Sand, in Bixter. The company plans to open a second processing plant at the former Saga Seafood plant, in Scalloway, later this year.
A financial report from the group's headquarters in Bergen said that future prospects were "favourable".
